About Abcas (UK) Ltd
Abcas (UK) Ltd is a specialist rope access company that says it provides access to places where machinery cannot reach. Founded in 1997 and operating as a limited company, the firm describes its aim as delivering a safe, professional and cost-effective service to clients across the UK and further afield.
The company says it works in difficult-to-reach locations such as bridges, high-rise structures, power stations, rock and quarry faces, wind turbines and airport buildings. Its work is carried out by technicians who are, the firm says, fully trained and registered with IRATA. Abcas also places emphasis on close liaison with clients, which it believes helps build trusting, long-term working relationships.
The services it lists include installation, maintenance and repair, inspection, surveys and testing, and geotechnical work. Abcas describes industrial rope access as an extremely safe and cost-effective way of working at height.
On quality and safety, the company says it operates to an ISO 9001:2008 accredited quality management system and works strictly to BS 7985:2009, the British Standard code of practice for rope access methods for industrial purposes. It also states that it carries full employer's and public liability insurance and keeps computerised inspection records for all its safety equipment in line with LOLER 1998. The firm says it is registered with Constructionline and CHAS.
A news item on the site refers to the company returning to Pembrokeshire to install a 27-metre dive platform for the Welsh Round of a 2013 High Diving Competition, featuring Red Bull.
